We are thrilled to introduce the 16 new health startups joining the JSF 2020 portfolio!

Ranked as the most active venture capital investor in Tennessee by CB Insights, Jumpstart annually makes approximately 20 uniform investments of $150,000 via convertible SAFE notes to innovative companies in the health space. These seed companies are expected to have both a tremendous impact in the health domain while driving strong financial returns.

After receiving hundreds of applications, we extended 16 offers, bringing the total number of companies in our growing portfolio to over 100..

The 2020 Cohort spans a variety of novel healthcare applications such as staffing optimization, population health management, augmented reality and medication cost management.

What excites us about them…

We think Bryan and Kosal’s deep familiarity with healthcare regulatory compliance pain points will enable them to build a product that customers both enjoy using and trust.

ConnectOR is an integrated platform to help operating rooms perform at their best by providing scheduling, messaging, and advanced analytics tools for OR managers.

What excites us about them…

Operating rooms are key revenue drivers for many hospitals. With the efficiency of ORs growing in importance, we are excited to work with the founding team of ConnectOR to bring their platform to hospitals around the country.

DrugViu is expanding the dataset on health, medication outcomes, and clinical trials to include people of color by collecting verified medication outcomes and side effects from communities of color and recruiting them for clinical trials.

What excites us about them…

Minority populations being left out of clinical trials have profound downstream effects for communities of color. We are excited to bring Kwaku and his team into the Jumpstart family as they work to improve health outcomes for people of color.

Elly is the world’s first empathetic audio companion for people impacted by cancer. Elly sends daily motivational and educational content to users and also provides sessions where users can learn and grow through other patients’ relatable experiences.

What excites us about them…

A cancer diagnosis can lead to feelings of isolation and detachment from the rest of society. The Jumpstart team loves Elly’s audio-driven approach towards building a community to support cancer patients. We believe Elly will both lead to a better patient experience and improve health outcomes.


HelloPatients logoHelloPatients

Springfield, IL

HelloPatients is an Intelligent Patient Engagement platform to enable patient awareness of healthcare costs by providing payment transparency. HelloPatients assists providers in automating patient payments, allowing a patient to clearly understand what they owe the provider and then customize a payment plan accordingly.

What excites us about them…

Uncompensated care is a growing problem hospitals are facing across the country. The HelloPatients team is building a solution that we think will drive revenue for provider organizations while also providing a great consumer experience for patients.

Kamana is a SaaS platform eliminating inefficient and expensive processes used to manage healthcare credentials, on-boarding, and job placements. Kamana provides nurses and allied healthcare professionals a universal credential management and sharing platform.

Live Chair has created a network of community partners powered by capabilities needed to reach, engage, and encourage health plans’ hardest-to-reach members. Starting with barbers in African American communities, Live Chair barbers help their clients better manage chronic health conditions and live a healthier, happier life.

What excites us about them…

At Jumpstart, we think healthcare needs to fit into people’s normal routines. Live Chair enables this by placing care into the community. We are excited about the impact Live Chair can have on hard to reach patients.

MedAux helps hospitals guide patients using automated just-in-time instructions and checklists pre, peri, and post-procedure. In partnership with a hospital, MedAux designs proprietary follow-up pathways specific to each procedure to automate patient-provider communications.

What excites us about them…

MedAux was created after extensive customer discovery by Elnaz and the MedAux team. Our industry partners indicated an appetite for solutions that can enable this type of communication with their patients, so we are excited to bring her into the Jumpstart portfolio.

Omnicure, “The Mobile Tele-ICU”, connects bedside providers with experienced intensivists any time, anywhere. Omnicure’s low-cost solution leverages everyday, off-the-shelf mobile technology, allowing any hospital to implement tele-ICU services for their patients.

Hospitals need efficient ways to deal with patient surges. Omnicure’s focus on quick and cost-effective implementation has the Jumpstart team excited about the impact they can have in both rural and urban  hospitals around the country.


RxThat logoRxThat

Castle Rock, CO

RxThat is a mobile platform that empowers patients and healthcare providers with accurate drug price comparisons between multiple pharmacies in real-time. The goal of RxThat is to improve the health of patients by making prescriptions more affordable and clinical operations more efficient.

What excites us about them…

Patients often abandon a prescription due to the discovery of unexpected drug prices at the pickup. Jumpstart believes that the RxThat team’s deep familiarity with this problem, combined with a clear and unique vision on how to alleviate this pain point for consumers, will lead to significant value for patients, pharmacies, and providers.


Samaritan

Seattle, WA

Samaritan has designed smart wallets for and with people experiencing homelessness. High-utilizer case managers and partnered CBOs use the smart wallets to engage at-risk individuals they seek to serve. Patients set housing and health goals alongside their CM and then can access financial and social capital from the community to successfully complete action steps in their care plan.

What excites us about them…

Housing instability has profound impacts on an individual’s health. While many hospitals try to help connect patients to community resources, the process is often disjointed and inefficient. We are excited by Samaritan’s unique approach towards bringing community resources together in a way that helps both providers and patients.
